Construction Project Management Software Features - Change Orders (CO)
The purpose of a Change Order (CO) is to modify the original Prime Contract due
to a changed condition. Changes can be initiated by the owner, architect, regulatory
agency, or one’s own firm due to field conditions. A Change Order can affect both
the contract amount and time.
Within Corecon, Change Orders can be created manually or auto generated from Change
Proposal Requests (CPR) or Work Orders (WO) using built-in wizards. Change Orders
can be tracked regardless of contract type (i.e. fixed lump sum, cost plus, or unit
price). When marked approved with an approval date, the Change Order will affect
budgets for any type of contract.
Many mid-tier construction accounting applications can handle the financial aspect
of change orders but lack the sophisticated reporting capabilities to actually generate
the Change Order for the Owner’s review. With Corecon, this is no problem! Corecon’s
strong reporting capabilities for Change Orders include detail reports, log reports,
and customization options using Microsoft Word templates. No longer will your field
staff have to create a Change Order in Microsoft Word to get the customer’s approval
and then keep a log of these changes in Microsoft Excel. This is all automatic in
Corecon!
