    Suggested Tweaks

Now that I'm trying to switch from 3.0 I've got a few questions is there a better way for me to deal with the following minor items?

    1. It's a pain to have the browser refresh in the left hand menu keep taking me to the top and have to scroll back down.  Example select daily logs from docs and then select list the menu screen refreshes back to "Documents Home" at the top in the main menu on the left side of the screen.

     2. In several places it would be nice if Corecon inserted my company name and address vs. the first company in the data base.  Not a big deal but it would be nice.

    3. Since the character limit is 3000 in the journal and a smaller limit in other areas of Corecon would be easier to bump into if it was easier to attach work docs or excel spreedsheets and have them available to open from within the Corecon list of Daily Log or Issues ect...

    4. Picture storage for some important functions would be great too.  Issues, RFI's, Daily Logs ect..   Word or Excel allow easy importing of pictures but if I don't have access to the computer with the original picture file on it I'm stuck.

FWIW I'm very happy and this minor list of items wouldn't stop me from recommending Corecon.

    Re: Suggested Tweaks

    1. This could be to do with your browser configuration.

    2. Make sure that the company name under Admin -> Organizations -> Profile is the same as your company name under Contacts -> Companies. Once this is confirmed your company will be selected as default.

    3. & 4. Features to attached external documents will be coming in the future release of Corecon (late Fall 2007).

We do appreciate all your recommendations and try to keep improving the product. Please feel free to send us all your suggestions and feedback.

    Thanks,

    Maulik

    Re: Suggested Tweaks

Well, Since we're talking about suggested tweaks...here are a few items on my wishlist....

    1.  When approving time, It would be nice if the Contract showed up in the list as well, we have some projects that have mulitple contracts, so when you go to appove the employee's time, you have to "edit" the time to see if they put their time in the correct contract.

     2.  Custom reports for projects/company...it would be nice if I could create and upload a custom report for my projects so I can see only the info I want to see...

     3.  The WIP reporting on the company homepage doesn't seem to work...I only get "no data available"

    4.  When doing cross project reports, it would be nice if there was a "recalculate all" button so it automatically recalculates all projects....I have over 80 projects (7 pages of checkboxes to relcalculate).....very tedious.....

    5.  Being an engineering firm, we have change orders that are "by the hour", not lump sum....it would be nice to enter in a change order that gets billed hourly....

    6. It would be nice if the reports could print out the graphs/charts that are displayed on the webpages.....sometimes a pie chart says more that numbers...

     7.  There are issued with the Simply Accounting link...but I'll post that in the appropriate forum.

    Re: Suggested Tweaks

More tweaks that I feel are needed....

     1. Many of the reports/columns/pull-down menus need to have dymanic borders so you can resize the report to fit the screen or at least be able to scroll the screen to see the entire report.  A good example of this is under the project center...details by prime....the WIP tab...there are 9 columns shown on the report on screen....however (I found this out by fluke by playing with column sizes)...there are 6 more columns that are part of this report that are only accessable by exporting the report or resizing the first 9 columns to a smaller width...you can extend the table to show all the columns at once.

    2.  Grand Totals for timecards....when you list a projects time, it gives the total for each employee, however, it doesn't give the grand total for the period. i.e.  I have the totals for 5 employees on a report...I would also like a grand total of all 5 employees so I know the total cost and hours...not totals for each individual employee.

    Re: Suggested Tweaks

Another function that would be great is the ability to "close" a contract under a project.  We have some projects with multiple contracts, and these contracts show up on the timesheet, once the contract is completed, it would be nice to "close" the contract so that people cannot accidently enter time into the wrong (closed) contract.

Also, it would be nice to assign specific job cost codes to specific contracts under the same project.  For example, I have project A with contract 1 and 2.  I would like to assign job cost code x and y to contract 1 and job cost code s and t to contract 2.  Right now we have to be very carefull when entering time to ensure that you don't pick a job cost code that doesn't belong to the contract.

Another item on my wishlist is to be able to "close" a contract under a project.  We have many projects with mulitple contracts, and since you cannot close a contract once it has been completed, employees can still accidently enter in time to a closed contract.

Also, the ability to assign specfic job cost code for each contract under a project would be nice.  Under a project with mulitple contracts, all the job cost codes show up on the timesheet, regarless of which contract you're putting your time under.  Corecon should filter out job cost codes that don't belong to the contract you're putting your time against.  We always have error of employees selecting the wrong job cost code because they don't remember what JCC belong to which contracts.

    Re: Suggested Tweaks

Also It would be nice to save  items and update prices  directly in PO, sun contracts and bills.

    Thanks

    Re: Suggested Tweaks

Another tweak I would like would be to be able to print out a Project Report by Salesperson.  I actually needed a report today that showed all of our projects sorted by salesperson/project manager.   Can't do that in corecon unfortunatley....
